Aer Lingus, Irelands only “4-Star” airline (*As awarded by SkyTrax World Airline Star Rating) are recruiting for permanent Direct Entry First Officers with Aer Lingus UK, based in Manchester. Aer Lingus are dedicated to delivering an exceptional travel experience to their customers.
Safety is at the core of everything we do and you will be expected to operate to the highest safety standards at all times, and to adhere to all company procedures and policies, as detailed in company operations manuals.
You will be part of an onboard team of at least 2 pilots, and at least 8 cabin crew on any flight as you operate Trans-Atlantic services from your Manchester base.
Your primary responsibility will be to support the Captain with the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft.

Role title
First Officer - Manchester Operations
Your role
Your duties will include:
- Safety First: Ensuring the safety and well-being of all customers and crew maintaining the highest safety standards by carrying out your duties in line with company policies/procedures and in accordance with Aer Lingus UK Operations Manuals and regulatory requirements.
- Problem-Solving: With a proven ability to deal with situations as they arise.
- Teamwork: At Aer Lingus UK we believe we are stronger when we work together. You will be collaborating closely with your fellow flight and cabin crew to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Communication: Excellent communicator, and able to communicate effectively not only with the crew on board and demonstrate good CRM skills, but our various partners (such as handling agents) and our passengers.

Your qualifications and key criteria
Job Entry Requirements:
• Minimum age of 18 years
• Eligible to live and work in the UK without restriction
• Must be able to apply for and obtain relevant US immigration/entry visas which is a pre-requisite for the role (for travel to/from the United States).
• Hold a valid passport allowing unrestricted worldwide travel
• Ability to report for duty within 120 minutes when on standby duty
• UK CAA issued ATPL or ATPL (f) licence
• A minimum total flying time of 1,500 hours, with at least 1,000 hours on an Airbus type (preferably A330 or A320)
• A fully funded CCQ onto the A330 will be provided by Aer Lingus for suitable candidates who require it (this will be bonded for 2 years)
• LPC must be valid upon commencement
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
• ELP level 5 required
• Flexibility and adaptability to working shifts, unsociable hours, weekends, holidays and overnights
• Able to pass an airport security vetting procedure, including a five-year background check
