Responsibilities:Lead our Workforce Planning Coordinators to ensure effective staffing to deliver operational safety, a satisfying work environment and improved customer service quality for YUL Cargo including support for smaller western Cargo stationsOptimize utilization across operations by making strategic staffing recommendations and decisionsProactively review and understand staffing position to provide meaningful insights on trends, forecast, opportunities for improvement, and identify areas of concernUnderstand how to pull together operational reports and provide interpretation and analysisGenerate reports and liaise with the Operations team to proactively suggest ways to reduce costs and improve productivityAnticipate, identify, and resolve staffing issues with a results-oriented approachAssume local leadership, as assigned, for specific local initiatives for process & performance improvement within the Resource departmentMaintain a solid understanding of staffing plan, pipeline and forecast to manage available resources and advise on future supply and demandEnsure data accuracy in all regards in our scheduling systemWork with Workforce Planning Coordinators to deploy unionized staff in a fast paced and dynamic Cargo environment. Effectively communicate to both internal and external stakeholders to achieve excellence in customer serviceAct as a coach for the employees, motivate and engage individuals and the team to build a positive and healthy working environmentDevelop daily staff rosters, including filling vacancies, reassigning staff, hiring overtime, managing under-time, and identifying exceptionsAdjust staffing levels in response to operational changesEffectively plan and delegate daily work assignments for the Cargo unionized staffManage and resolve employee issues that are escalated by Workforce Planning CoordinatorsPlay an influential role in nurturing a sense of ownership across the workforce, so that employees feel empowered to use their judgment and experience to make sound decision
QualificationsUniversity Degree or equivalent required3+ years of relevant work experienceExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to apply creative solutions that have a positive impact on resultsStrong analytical and planning skillsRecognized ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations and maintain flexibilityAbility to respond quickly to situations and seize opportunitiesAbility to influence, convince and create mutually acceptable solutions in the context of conflictsPossess an energetic and tenacious achievement orientationExhibit leadership qualities which elicit trust in employees and demonstrate leadership judgmentStrong knowledge and expertise in AC safety and service standards as well as labour relationsExcellent interpersonal skillsPrevious operational experience is an assetComputer literateMust have exceptional communication skills, organization, and time management skillsPost secondary education requiredAbility to work on a rotating shift pattern including weekends and the possibility of some extended hoursDemonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment
