SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for operating braiders, wardwells, and skivers to braid tube prior to covering the hose.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Must organize, coordinate, and operate several machines simultaneously
Must become familiar with assorted yarns and tube specifications
Set up machines as directed by specification sheets
Connect lengths of tube, change yarn bobbins and lubricate machines.
Check dimensions of product and record readings.
Change and install jacket stock, if needed.
Order yarn supply as needed
Able to foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external customers
Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
Participate on project teams, star point teams and kaizen events when needed.
Attend and participate in all training opportunities required to develop in the role
Basic troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of machines
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: | High School diploma or GED preferred |
Experience: | Previous experience in manufacturing preferred |
Preferred Skills/ Qualifications: | Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills Sound decision making skills Good math, reading and writing skills Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention

The employee may be subject to:
High noise levels from operating machines and equipment
Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels
Exposure to nuisance fumes
Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, high visibility clothing)
Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis
Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions
Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime
The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
