Job Description:

The Product Development Specialist must have the ability to effectively listen and respond to customers to include DoD Program Managers and Directors of Maintenance. Provide technical insight to the development team. Assist with application design and system integration.  Quickly become knowledgeable of the product, and write technical papers/publications/presentations for customer consumption. Work with Contract Administration for DoD-related products to ensure deliverables are properly processed.  Create system maintenance plans for in-house and customers.  Conduct initial training for customers and the in-house support team.  Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for new products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Responsibility/Accountability

50% of the time: Critical hands-on team member for new product development and integration.

20% of the time: Travel and support at customer locations for form, fit, and function testing.  This includes initial testing for specific component balancing functionality.  Modal and Vibration testing to ensure system survivability. 

15% of the time: Work with software developers to ensure customer expectations are met.

10% of the time: Write technical papers/publications and develop presentations to meet customer requirements.

5% of the time: Assist Business Development with technical knowledge on new business pursuits.

  • Proven communication skills both oral and written with customers and internal co-workers.

  • Ability to rapidly establish a good working relationship with customers and other professionals
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism
  • Knowledge and experience with technical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of balancing, vibrations, and performance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
  • Knowledge of system integration and application design.
  • Basic understanding of government contracting
  • Experience with SAP Business One preferred

EDUCATION/TRAINING/LICENSES

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on or working experience related to product development and system integration.
  • Technical Degree preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Works predominately at office desk: carrying out both manual and repetitive arm-hand and finger movements regarding computerized data entry and data processing tasks.
  • The job requires verbal contact with and listening to internal and external stakeholders in both a one-on-one and group setting. 
  • The job requires the use of hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The job requires the ability to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects 1 lb. to 50 lbs. multiple times each month.
  • The job requires walking or standing often and may include periodic bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing in and around aircraft and other vehicles.
  • Works in an environmentally controlled work area with adequate lighting.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Mental activities necessary include concentration, mathematical accuracy, organization, and communication skills.
  • May require personal safety equipment such as hearing and eye protection in PPE-specified areas.
  • Travels (including airline travel) periodically to customer sites
