DRS is looking for a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Technician to join our team. In this full-time role, you will play a crucial part in assembling motors, electric machines, and a variety of internal components, including piping, alignments, wiring, and conducting essential tests to ensure highest level of quality.

•    Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly, and rework of various products and mechanical assemblies.•    Interpret and work from standard assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications, and running sheets, often of intermediate to significant complexity.•    Follow established procedures for reworking components to meet quality control specifications.•    Conduct testing, inspection, and repair of mechanical assemblies.•    Work independently with minimal supervision and provide guidance to other technicians when needed.•    Collaborate effectively within a team and contribute to various manufacturing processes.•    Adhere to written documents, including SOPs, safety guidelines, and work instructions.•    Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.•    Interface with other departments to ensure efficient flow of materials and information.•    Meet production deadlines and uphold high-quality standards.•    Availability to work overtime and/or 2nd shift when required.

•    High school diploma or equivalent.•    2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.•    Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills.•    Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.•    Proficient in the use of various tools, including torquing tools, pneumatic tools, hand tools, saws, and grinders.•    Ability to use measuring devices with accuracy.•    Basic knowledge of wiring, piping, and computer operations.•    Experience in using calibrated tools and understanding compliance standards.•    Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and reprioritize based on operational needs.•    US Citizenship is required.

Additional Desirable Skills & Knowledge:•    Experience with Permanent Magnet Motors, including stacking laminations, installing coils (including brazing), and installing cooling tubes.•    Familiarity with electrical insulation system testing, including the use of tools such as insulation resistance testers and hipot testers.•    Knowledge of 6S and Lean manufacturing principles and practices.•    Machining skills are a plus.•    Experience with overhead cranes and forklift trucks is desirable.•    Ability to utilize special tooling, fixtures, and lifting rigs for specialized tasks.•    Prior experience in assembling large, complex rotating machinery is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:•    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.•    Frequent bending, stooping, walking, climbing, and kneeling.
