The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
Role Description:
Responsible for the overall quality of the Environmental Health and Safety EHS program. Provides the required management and direction to achieve Safety program objectives through coordination with the appropriate EHS or Aviation Safety representatives. Analyzes hazards and evaluates risk mitigation strategies to provide goals for incident prevention. Provides expert advice in order to ensure compliance with established federal, state, and local regulations regarding industry safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective and professional communication to employees, leadership, and the U.S. Department of State.
- Foster continuous improvement of the Safety program throughout the organization by evaluating site assessments, incident reports, and investigation findings.
- Provide expert industry advice at all levels and coordinate as appropriate to mitigate physical hazards while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Responsible for ensuring all aspects of the EHS program administration, through the audit of key performance indicators KPIs and departmental files, including fire prevention and response, hazardous material HAZMAT handling and storage, hazardous waste HAZWASTE transport and disposal, spill prevention and response, hearing conservation and audiometric testing, employee respirator training and usage, post-incident drug and alcohol testing, personal protective equipment PPE training and usage, confined space operations, fall arrest and prevention, facility inspections in accordance with NFPA and OSHA guidelines, as well as OSHA recording and reporting requirements.
- Develop and revise written policies and procedures to ensure continued regulatory compliance.
- Ensure appropriate management of change practices are followed throughout the program.
- Produce and present evaluations, reports, and training as required.
- Manage certain budgetary aspects, including awards program and material requests.
- Perform occasional travel CONUS and OCONUS to assist or evaluate the Safety program at various locations.
