Overview of role:
WestJet is seeking a Senior Manager of Integration Platforms. You must exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and be results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate experience/expertise with integration technology.

The Senior Manager is responsible for guiding the success of integration technology platforms and leading the cross-functional team that is responsible for improving it. It is a critical role that sets the strategy, manages the technical roadmap, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) / Managed Reliability (MRE) for a set of technology platforms. The position also includes researching industry trends and driving the adoption of patterns and technologies.
A deep technical expertise is needed to lead the organization and make strategic decisions. The role spans many activities from strategic to tactical and provides important cross-functional leadership — most notably between engineering, business functions, and support teams.
Managers hold budget responsibility for all technology they support including cost of development, and ongoing operational support. This incorporates continuous improvement in time-to-market and cost reduction on a per-unit basis.
Key deliverables include:
- Responsible for setting a product vision and strategy.
- Ownership of the technology roadmap and prioritizes building what matters most to achieve the strategic goals and initiatives behind the product.
- Facilitate planning what their teams will deliver and the timeline for implementation.
- Responsible for defining the release process and coordinating all the activities required to bring the product to market. This involves bridging gaps between different functions within the company and aligning all the teams involved.
- In collaboration with business partners, they prioritize features by ranking them against the strategic goals and initiatives.
- Responsible for defining the requirements for each feature and the desired user experience. They work closely with engineering on the technical specifications and ensure that teams have all the information they need to deliver a complete product to market.
- Defines and maintains service levels specific to requirements of the product. This includes continuous improvement, disaster recovery, run books, security and patch compliance, and coordinating cross-functional operational teams to support these services during all operational hours up to and including 24x7.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to team resources to fulfill all elements of the product management lifecycle.
- Management of third-party vendors specific to the delivery of their products. This includes contract negotiations and renewals, service level performance adherence and improvement plans and quality.
- Accountable to ensure their products conform to all corporate compliance and regulatory governance standards. This includes a broad understanding of these standards and accountability to meet them on an ongoing basis. Standards include PCI, GDPR, SOX, etc.
Experience and qualifications:
- A minimum of seven years of relevant experience is required, or an equivalent mix of training and experience
- Requires 7+ years of experience in integration technologies
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of integration strategies and patterns
- Experienced with IBM MQ, IBM DataPower, Confluent Kafka, Azure API, AKS
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field required
- Scrum or equivalent Agile methodology
- Skilled in DevOps and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) with Azure DevOps (ADO)
- Demonstrates curiosity, analytical thinking, and strong organizational skills
- Requires advanced problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to influence others
- Able to explain technical issues in business terms and convert business challenges into tech solutions
- Skilled in financial management, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
- Demonstrate a strong technical grounding to effectively manage and challenge technology teams with regards to measures of complexity and effort
- Highly self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across functions.
- Experience and demonstrated ability to create a vision, strategy and roadmap
- Exposure to highly complex and integrated systems using enterprise class tools and methodologies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively, demonstrate flexibility and set priorities in a fast-paced environment
