We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager EH&S overseeing Environmental, Health, and Safety at the Sterling, VA Mission Systems location. The site professional will play a pivotal role in providing technical guidance to the leadership team, ensuring seamless execution of EH&S Management System requirements. Advocating for EH&S-compliant solutions, you will support management system program execution aligned with corporate requirements, schedules and customer specifications.

Drive regulatory compliance and adherence to EH&S standards, lead guidance of site EH&S programs while fostering a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility with the Leadership Teams. Engaging with all levels of the site workforce, you will implement EH&S initiatives, oversee incident management, conduct technical reviews and risk assessments, and ensure comprehensive EH&S training. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining a safe workplace and achieving excellence in EH&S performance.

This role will be performed Onsite at our Collins Aerospace Location in Sterling, VA Mission Systems location with secondary support provided for the locations in STS (Simulation and Training Solutions) Mission Systems portfolio including Binghamton, Salt Lake City and Orlando. Potential travel quarterly.

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for oversite of EH&S requirements and Management System
  • Ability to obtain approved government security clearance
  • Provide technical guidance to the business leadership team to ensure effective execution of EH&S Management System requirements
  • Foster an EH&S culture of collaboration and shared responsibility with site leadership and employees
  • Provide insight to capital planning for the achievement of short-term and long-term goals that meet company and legal requirements
  • Support the organization to ensure legal and regulatory compliance and adherence with EH&S standards and procedures
  • Primary contact for local, state, federal legal regulatory organizations
  • Interact with hourly, management, field work and contractor personnel in support of EH&S program requirements and implementation
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of metrics and compliance requirements
  • Support incident management from investigation through corrective action implementation
  • Ensure required EH&S training is provided to workforce personnel and contractors. Site specific EH&S training may apply
  • Perform technical reviews, risk assessments, analyses, and inspections of processes/facilities
  • Support compliance assurance reviews & program evaluations as well as other internal and external reviews
  • Travel 25 to locations including Binghamton, Salt Lake City and Orlando

What You Will Learn

  • Oversite of EH&S programs, their implementation and ensuring alignment with the EH&S Management System and Legal requirements
  • Leading through collaborative relationships with the site leadership team and driving EHS integration into roles and responsibilities of all leaders
  • Facilitate EH&S Management System alignment and general support within STS locations

Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience 
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.  Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Education or experience in EH&S regulatory compliance, safety culture, and/or EH&S management systems
  • Experience developing and implementing safety and environmental programs or campaigns
  • Manufacturing environment experience

The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
