Our Defence client is currently recruiting for a Project Manager based in Cheadle to deliver an inflight project. Expected to provide assistance to the Building Block Portfolio Product Manager, It requires professional project management capabilities to be applied - giving rigour to cost and schedule, resource management, commercial awareness and stakeholder management.
This is a 6 month contract position, with the possibility of further demand. Based in Cheadle it will require 3 days a week on site, plus occasional expensed travel to Crawley. We can pay a rate of 400 per day PAYE or 552.69 per day Umbrella Inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with an established team to survey an existing project and ensure the successful delivery.
- Report accurately and maintain control of the work.
- Deliver the key results and performance metrics of the project, including gross margin and cash.
- Ensure all business planning and reporting is published in accordance with Business directives.
- Manage project stakeholders; ensuring strong communications are established and maintained.
- Taking direct management of project risk, opportunities and schedule management working with the PMO.
- Ensure data integrity of all project information including financials and schedule. Use the Oracle and Primavera toolset to hold all financial, schedule and resource information.
Requirements
- Experience of delivering an Engineering project, ideally within the Defence industry.
- Experience Working in a complex, multidisciplinary, multi-site organisation.
- Experience and understanding of the Project Management process including Change Control, Risk Management and Information Management.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with written presentation and report writing skills.
- Strong, organisational, managerial and team working skills.
- Analytical skills aligned with the need to carry out detailed investigation of cost variance.
- Commercial, financial and business acumen.
- Experience of chairing reviews and establishing root cause analysis
- Experience of chairing lessons learned reviews
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
