The Repair Services Manager is responsible for a critical subsection of our supply chain. This role has oversight of the tactical execution of our repairs team as well as the vendor relationships that intersect these functions. This is an operational leadership role providing oversight, support, and direction to a diverse and distributed team to ensure objectives around operational readiness, on time delivery, quality, service, and margin are met.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a broad understanding of procurement “best practices” and a well-rounded knowledge of commercial aviation, aircraft components, and related regulatory, safety, and technical requirements. This role may require travel up to 50 during some parts of the year to support away teams and vendor relationships, however will be primarily based out of our corporate office in Kansas City, MO.

To be successful, you’ll need to deploy excellent negotiation and prospecting skills, vendor relationship management, data analytics ability, and a service-focused mindset regularly as you manage a team and processes that support a 24/7/365 sales organization. Your job duties will include, but are not limited to…

  • Provide leadership, coaching, oversight, and direction to teams to support repairs management and asset harvesting processes to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders
  • Develop cost reduction strategies and savings plans
  • Apply knowledge of aircraft, related equipment and how to resource, leverage, and find the same to support rapidly changing business requirements and ensure customer requirements are met
  • Work closely with all departments -in particular operations, programs, sales, quality and warehouse- to ensure accurate and timely response to internal and external customers
  • Authorize purchase orders, support price negotiation, and approve payments to support the procurement process
  • Review and assess request for proposals (RFP’s) and bid packages to make recommendations
  • Analyze and monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine need for change
  • Develop Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) for new and existing relationships to ensure operational readiness for growth
  • Prepare purchase requisitions, approve and issues purchase orders in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions
  • Analyze data, including requirements for planning, prepares consolidated managerial reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure optimal supply chain execution
  • Create, implement, monitor and manage to appropriate KPIs
  • Maintain an open line of communication with internal teams and external vendors to ensure the highest level of safety and quality standards in line with industry best practices are employed (people resources, environmental health and safety, methodologies, etc) and expectations are managed accordingly with customers

We think you’ll likely meet our basic qualifications if you have this type of background:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Supply Chain or Purchasing Management role
  • 10+ years of experience in aviation, preferably commercial aviation (such as with a major air carrier or MRO)
  • 5+ years in a materials planning, logistics, or “crew chief” type role with direct, hands-on experience resourcing teams for operational readiness
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related preferred, or equivalent experience may be substituted (8+ years in addition to above)
