About the Role:
Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an opportunity to join Engineering Powerplant department as Manager CAMO - Engines, based in Doha, Qatar.
On this role you will be responsible to create and lead the implementation of operational / commercial strategy that maintains the mandatory requirements as per safety and compliance regulations. Ensure that aircraft engines and APUs are following the airworthiness procedures under CAMO and ETOPS as required or where applicable. Maintain optimal levels of reliability and ensure cost-effective strategy is maintained to support internal and external stakeholders. Develop strategic plans to the department and to implement on-wing and off-wing activities for cost optimization of engine maintenance. Provide expertise for Power Plant, engine selection, RFP evaluations, contract negotiations and continuous monitoring / management of the existing contracts for cost effectiveness and to ensure Qatar Airways interests are protected.
Duties and responsibilities:
Strategic
Develop, maintain and continually evaluate work processes and practices to ensure maximum utilization of resources available. Review procedures and processes for efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with applicable regulations and requirements to ensure continuing airworthiness.
Initiate new procedures or revision to existing procedures, as required to meet business needs.
Recommend amendments to Aircraft Maintenance Programs and MEL under Airworthiness authority guidelines and Qatar Airways specific maintenance requirements based on fleet experience and engineering judgement to maintain effectiveness.
Manage failure investigations and ensure all findings and recommendations are implemented in an efficient timeline.
Develop team goals to ensure the operational and commercial targets are met by the team.
Negotiate and Manage Engines and APUs contracts.
Review and Manage Engine and APU contracts to ensure Qatar Airways’ interests are achieved and protected.

Operational
Prepare, update and manage an effective engine/APU change plan to ensure optimum on-wing performance while meeting all airworthiness requirements. Address all queries from Engine/APU shops or Line/Hangar maintenance in a timely manner to prevent work stoppage.
Prepare, update and manage tailored work scopes for each engine/APU to ensure contractual requirements and reliability targets are met.
Perform or cause to be performed activities related to continued airworthiness management (airworthiness directives, mandatory modifications, time limited inspections) and ensure they are evaluated on priority and actions taken within a time frame commensurate with the airworthiness authority and company requirements to ensure continued compliance with airworthiness requirements.
Investigate all assigned air safety events in a timely manner to mitigate any safety risks.
Ensure that all applicable reliability issues are mitigated and resolved effectively in order to maintain component, systems or aircraft technical dispatch reliability at optimal levels.
Provide technical support/guidance/expertise to all other sections/departments as needed.
Maintain effective liaison with vendors/manufacturers and ensure that effective troubleshooting guidelines are provided to Maintenance in a timely manner and assist the MOCC in recovering AOG situations to ensure smooth continuing operations.
Perform Engine Health Monitoring functions and ensure they are followed closely and assist maintenance in managing alerts generated through EHM, as needed, to anticipate failures and minimize operational disruptions.
Review and monitor critical issues and action items (including but not limited to various high –visibility items in the aircraft, significant event drivers, customer complaints drivers) periodically and keep Senior Manager Engineering Power Plant and/or VP Power Plant briefed on the status of such items to ensure timely technical status updating.
Provide technical assistance to Contracts Department, Aircraft Programmes section and Aircraft Deliveries section as needed related to Engines and APUs to ensure that technical expertise is available to secure Company interests.
Ensure Engine/APU shop queries are answered in a timely manner to prevent any Engine/APU work stoppage in the shop whether Qatar Airways’ shop or at outside suppliers.
Ensure short and long-term removal plans for planning and financial purposes are updated and ready.
Management & Leadership
Establish the department or teams objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
Regularly evaluate the department or teams objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed.
Oversee and supervise employees. Direct daily activities, recruit, train, develop and discipline to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
Train and develop other employees, to ensure succession planning is in place.
