  • The Director of Crew Scheduling and Compensation will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Pilot and Flight Attendant Crew Scheduling teams and Crew Compensation. This role will provide leadership and support to the Crew Scheduling team to enable them, in turn, to deliver the best possible service to our crew members while maximizing the utilization of our crew resources in the most effective and efficient manner. Additionally, this position will focus on process improvement and cross-collaboration, both within the greater Crew Scheduling Team and with all other Operational departments.

  • Lead a front line team of over 140 Pilot and Flight Attendant Crew Schedulers, Supervisors and Crew Compensation team members in a 24/7 operational environment
  • Work with Labor Relations and leadership team to review, evaluate, and assist in issues and tenents of the Pilot and Flight Attendant collective bargaining agreements
  • Lead strategy and establish processes to optimize crew costs and productivity
  • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for crew compensation, ensuring enterprise alignment across labor agreements, financial objectives, and operational priorities.
  • Ensure crew staff plans comply with APA and APFA Contract rules and all FAA regulations
  • Maintain overall responsibility for crew scheduling performance management; coach/counsel team members; set clear performance standards and goals for team members
  • Maintain awareness of best industry practices regarding new technological developments for the continual improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of crew resource management processes
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with other operational managers (e.g. in IOC, Airports, Inflight, Flight, APA, APFA) and act as the Crew Scheduling liaison with these departments and organizations
  • Coordinate cross-departmental communications, primarily with the Flight-Ops, In-Flight, Labor Relations and IOC leadership teams
  • Provide strong leadership in the daily operation during irregular operations for the development and expeditious handling of the operational recovery plan
  • Interact with vendors to provide enhancements to current crew systems and create automation
All youll need for success

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation or related field, or equivalent experience/training
  • 7 years of progressive leadership experience, overseeing large cross-functional teams, with at least 4 years within the transportation industry
  • 2 years of experience in Crew Management
  • Advanced knowledge of Pilot and Flight Attendant collective bargaining agreements and FARs
  • Advanced knowledge of Crew Resources/Scheduling information systems

Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Advanced Degree preferred
  • Previous experience in Crew Scheduling/Crew Resources
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Previous experience participating in collective bargaining agreement negotiations

  • Ability to influence others through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in adjusting to shifting priorities in a dynamic operational environment, while effectively modeling leadership attributes.
  • Ability to create and sustain a culture that encourages self-development, growth, and performance excellence
  • General knowledge of business administration disciplines (e.g., Finance, Contract Negotiations, Labor Analysis, Labor Relations, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with ability to handle complex topics comfortably and to interact effectively with team members at all levels within the organization, as well as with external stakeholders and vendors
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
  • Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office software, including Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
