Job overview and responsibilities
This director will lead strategy, research, and development support efforts to improve United’s pricing systems and tools. The Director of Pricing Innovation will be responsible for enabling the company’s pricing professionals to drive incremental revenue by implementing strategic pricing decisions with maximum speed-to-market. The scope of the role includes leadership of the Pricing Planning, Development & Science team – which collaborates with United’s Pricing and Digital Technology teams to maintain and improve Pricing systems. Additionally, you will work with the Revenue Business Intelligence Applications team, which develops and supports forward-thinking internal tools to meet the PRM department’s automation needs.
- Listen to and collaborate with partners among Pricing teams to make strategic decisions about the future direction of United’s Pricing systems and processes
- Envision and design Pricing system solutions that keep United aware and ahead of the competition across all channels
- Stay abreast of the industry’s Offer/Order transformation, and represent United at related industry events where the PRM perspective on Offer/Order is required
- Prioritize development efforts based on a balance of benefits, costs, and resource availability
- Ensure constant, clear communication between the Pricing PDS team and the Pricing market teams as improvements are planned & implemented
- Provide support to the Pricing market teams in efficiently using and troubleshooting existing Pricing systems
- Actively participate in industry forums (ATPCO, industry solution providers, etc.) to keep abreast of new methods & approaches in Pricing in the airline industry, and to represent United’s position to solutions providers
- Collaborate with problem solvers both internal and external to the department on the applicability of new solutions to improve speed-to-market, rules engine capabilities, etc.
- Ensure the RBI Apps team provides proactive and sufficient support to the PRM organization both in promoting strong data skills in the department and in keeping department tools aligned with evolving company security directives
- Help the RBI Apps team to connect and collaborate with the right individuals around the company to solve challenges as they arise
- Coach Sr Managers in the group to develop good listening and communication skills between their teams and other PRM groups
- Help team leaders to cultivate good project requirements definition and test planning skills within their teams
- Ensure all people leaders within the organization foster inclusivity of diverse perspectives within their teams
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelors degree or 5 years of relevant work experience in Statistics, Data Analytics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science or similarly analytical fields
- 7 total years of professional experience, at least 4 of which in an airline Pricing role
- Strong project and people management skills, experience with Microsoft office suite (Excel, PowerPoint), experience working with airline Pricing system(s) and deep knowledge of airline fare rules
Preferred
- Master’s Degree
- Basic knowledge of SQL and some advanced business intelligence tool (Power BI, Spotfire, etc.)
The base pay range for this role is $155,895.00 to $212,410.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
