This position manages a department that includes multiple teams responsible for various aspects of certification of Oxygen products. The various teams are distributed amongst multiple business sites and consist of Certification Engineering, Safety & Reliability (S&R) Engineering and Test Engineering. The individual is responsible for all department-related short/long-term goal setting as well as liaising with the appropriate business stakeholders to ensure execution of these objectives. Additionally, this role will be responsible for managing a global engineering team that ensures the day-to-day certification work required for all Oxygen products is known, forecast, managed and completed on-time and within budget.
Primary Responsibilities:
Acts as the certification engineering focal to the Oxygen business
Responsible for all oxygen certification related resources (direct and indirect reporting) including: Certification Engineering, S&R Engineering and Test Engineering
Identifies internally or externally-driven risks to Oxygen certification business objectives, develops solutions to manage those risks, and presents these plans to leadership for concurrence
Owns the certification budget inclusive of hardware, software, resources, etc. Actively monitors and manages these items to ensure continued business support within cost targets.
Estimates resource, test article, material, etc. costs and program timeframes in support of sales/spaneting quote/bid activities
Cultivates the necessary industry relationships (e.g. customers, competitors, suppliers, professional organizations, etc.) required to stay abreast of the industry certification competitive landscape and utilizes this knowledge to develop business implementation roadmaps and risk management solutions
Actively monitors/manages the cost, schedule, and technical performance/capability of the certification teams to achieve established budget, On-Time Delivery (OTD), and quality metrics
Responsible for developing, deploying and maintaining the current condition of certification standard work
Maintains a dedicated focus on certification resource development to ensure business demand of authorized roles is met with a commensurate level of capacity within the certification organization
Basic Qualifications:
Candidates for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience in any of the following is a plus:
Familiarity with FAA and EASA Part 25 and Part 23 regulations related to Oxygen
Oxygen certification (flammability and environmental qualification)
S&R evaluations (to show compliance against 25.1309)
Aircraft (TC/STC) or article (TSO) level certification
