Position Summary
The Work Leader plays a key role in the day-to-day operations within the production areas of the facility, exemplifying the core values of the departments and identifying non-value-added activities. This individual helps ensure smooth material flow across the shop floor to meet customer delivery commitments, utilizing SAP for tracking and management. The Work Leader acts as a vital communication link, reinforcing management direction while providing employee feedback through active listening.
Responsibilities
- Perform direct labor tasks by earning hours to support customer deliveries when needed
- Act as a backup for the Supervisor during their absence, including scheduling and assigning work, communicating schedules to operators, and troubleshooting,
- Provide leadership to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including safety, quality, and continuous improvements initiatives. (Note: While the position does require upholding policies and procedures, however does not include discipling operators)
- Accurately document production activities using SAP transactions
- Accurately document issues in designated files
- Coordinate rework efforts as needed
- Effectively assign and schedule work, including coordinating product flow across departments when required.
- Perform activities related to hazardous waste handling, such as container labeling, understanding emergency procedures, and completing initial and annual hazardous waste training.
- Ability to understand and support day-by-hour sheet completion and ability to lead High Performance Teams. This position should be involved in leading by example by participating in the various facets of the Parker Lean System.
