ABOUT THE ROLE  

As a  Traveling Mechanic - Millwright  here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in assisting the rebuild of Honeywells line sorters. Working closely with the team guide, you will be accountable for removing, replacing, and cleaning hardware on various Honeywell line sorter types.

Your expertise will contribute to the inventory management, staging, and movement of hardware throughout a distribution center to facilitate the rebuild process. Additionally, you will ensure a professional installation appearance through cleanup efforts.

You will be required to work mostly  weekends  within a constrained timeline, where success is measured by completing the rebuild within customer-provided downtime windows. You will report directly to our team guide and you will reside in any of the lower 48 states in the US.  Your time off work will usually fall on mid-week.  

Key Responsibilities  

  • Perform mechanical rebuilds of Honeywell Intelligrated line sortation equipment
  • Carry out mechanical modifications and parts replacement on industrial machinery
  • Manually move hardware and tools to and from the job site
  • Assist with inventory management and staging of hardware
  • Research, read, and analyze existing equipment documentation, including layout drawings, plan views, and electrical schematics
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, the implementation team, and other subject matter experts
  • Mechanically remove and install hardware as directed
  • Facilitate the cleaning of customer equipment involved in the rebuild
  • Ensure the work area is clean and presents a professional appearance
  • Prioritize safety in all job-related efforts
  • Travel 90 of the time, primarily during weekends.
  • Complete travel related bookings via Concur and submit expense reports in a timely manner  

COMPENSATION OVERVIEW  

The annual base salary range for this position is $53,000-$80,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidates work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.  

YOU MUST HAVE  

  • 3+ years of mechanical technician/millwright experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Drivers license  

WE VALUE  

  • Associates, Bachelors, or other advanced degree
  • Previous industry experience, specifically with line sortation equipment
  • Proficiency with common metal fabrication tools (drills, saws, grinders)
  • Strong mechanical/millwright skillset
  • Electrical experience is a plus
  • Previous installation experience
  • Ability to work long hours in a physically demanding role
  • Ability to work independently and have a strong work ethic
  • Basic insight of blueprints and schematics  

Physical Requirements  

  • The ability to climb up and over conveyor.
  • The ability to climb ladders.
  • The ability to lift 35 pounds individually and 50 pounds as a two-person team.
  • The ability to carry required tools and tool bag (10-15lbs) regularly for extended periods and distances.
  • The ability to spend long periods of time standing and / or walking on concrete and other surfaces.
  • The ability to work above your head for extended period of time while standing, laying, or seated (e.g., 30mins). The ability to lift weights listed above your head.
  • The ability to move safely in confined spaces which may require crawling on hands and knees.
