Role Summary
* The Sheet Metal Technician fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal products and equipment for general aviation aircraft. The role includes operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal, shaping metal using anvils, blocks, and forms, and using soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts. The technician inspects assemblies, smooths seams and joints, and ensures parts meet specifications. The position supports general aviation aircraft maintenance and modification activities as assigned. Education & Job Requirements
* Must have:
* A High School Diploma or equivalent.
* A minimum of 3 years of diversified aviation sheet metal experience.
* The ability to obtain and maintain an airport security badge through the local airport authority, if applicable.
* Knowledge of aircraft structure repair manuals.
* Knowledge of FAA AC 43.13-1B.
* The ability to perform corrosion removal procedures.
* The ability to apply and remove wash, etch, and Alodine material.
* The ability to apply primer.
* The ability to identify rivets, bolts, screws, nuts, and washers. Preferred Skills
* You will have:
* Experience with blueprints, drawings, and written or verbal instructions for layout and part alteration.
* Experience guiding and instructing lower classification helpers. Job Duties & Functions
* You will:
* Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences, methods, and material,s according to blueprints and written or verbal instructions.
* Lay out sheet metal parts using blueprints, drawings, or written or verbal instructions.
* Alter existing parts using blueprints, drawings, or written or verbal instructions.
* Remove rivets and sheet metal components.
* Bend and form radii on fabricated sheet metal parts.
* Drill various metals.
* Debur holes and cut lines.
* Set up for and countersink holes.
* Set up for and dimple holes.
* Set up for and install solid rivets with a rivet gun.
* Set up for and install solid rivets with a squeeze tool.
* Install blind rivets and fasteners.
* Guide and instruct one or two lower classification helpers fifty percent or more of the time.
* Perform other related duties as required by supervision or management. Physical Requirements

* Meet all physical requirements necessary to safely perform sheet metal fabrication, installation, and repair tasks.
* Wear required personal protective equipment as assigned.
