Position Overview

NDT Technician II, you will be responsible for performing and interpreting non-destructive tests on materials and components to ensure product integrity and reliability. You will utilize various testing techniques and equipment to identify defects, discontinuities, and other flaws that could affect the quality or performance of the materials being tested.

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Conduct non-destructive tests on materials, components, and assemblies using methods such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), radiographic testing (RT), and visual testing (VT).
  • Interpret and evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Investigate, validate and develop root cause analysis based corrective actions for all “late finds”, and internal and external audit findings identified on assigned aircraft.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, results, and any recommended actions.
  • Setup and maintain testing equipment and ensure calibration and functionality are up to date and in adherence to applicable standards and/or specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance personnel, and production staff to resolve testing issues and improve processes.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other personnel to resolve testing issues or discrepancies.
  • Participate in training and certification programs to enhance knowledge and skills in NDT techniques.
  • Read blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Ensure all work is performed completely, correctly, and with the highest degree of quality.
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced technicians as needed.
  • Performed other tasks as assigned.

 

What you need: (Requirements)

 

Minimum

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • HAECO’s Repairman certification
  • Level II NDT certification with the required classroom AND OJT hours for a minimum of one Level II NDT method (PT, ET, UT).
  • Must be able to obtain certification with the required classroom AND OJT hours in two additional Level II NDT methods (PT, ET, UT).
  • Strong understanding of NDT principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Proficiency in interpreting codes, standards, and specifications related to NDT testing.
  • Proficiency in using NDT equipment and software.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capable of interpreting drawings, blueprints, service bulletins, ads and any other related documents as required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language.

 

 

Preferred

  • Airframe and/or Powerplant certification

 

Physical Requirements

  • Subject to noise in excess of 85 dB
  • Be able to work in high places and confined spaces.
  • Be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time and climb ladders and/or service stands.
  • Job required participation in the DOT random drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Normal or corrected hearing.
  • Capable of lifting fifty (50) pounds.
  • Visual acuity must be a minimum of 20/40 corrected and must have full color vision.
