OnsiteCollins Aerospace in Windsor Locks, CT, is looking for a Mechanical Test Engineer II who will design, implement, and maintain test processes for Space Systems hardware using lean philosophies and techniques. Additionally, they will take a leadership role in driving action in the development, planning & implementation of timely and effective corrective actions for problems during product manufacturing and testing. This can involve testing, data analysis, and interface with all aspects of the engineering department.
Duties include the interpretation/analysis of customer test requirements and subsequent cost estimates to support an appropriate test program. Responsibilities also include daily interface with Program, Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering organizations to ensure that customer committed hardware and data deliveries are consistently met.
Position will work primarily onsite at our Windsor Locks, CT location.
What You Will Do
- Interpretation/analysis of customer test requirements and subsequent cost estimates to support an appropriate test program
- Daily interface with Program, Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering organizations to ensure that customer committed hardware and data deliveries are consistently met
- Support laboratory testing of Space Systems hardware
- Develop and validate tooling concepts
- Author and maintain operation/test procedures
- Preparation of standardized operation/test sheets
- Defining test rig and facility requirements
- Participation on program Integrated Product Development teams
- Review drawings and concepts, and resolve producibility concerns
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required
- This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with NASA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA’s regulation SUBPART 1835.5 Drug- Free Workforce
- Experience with advanced instrumentation and data acquisition systems is required
- Capability of working independently and is self-motivated
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to proficiently operate common Microsoft Office software products
- Experience should include 3-5 years working on the testing of complex mechanical systems, testing of complex mechanical systems, testing of components such as, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, & accumulators
Qualifications We Prefer
- Knowledge of LabVIEW
- 3-5 years’ experience of prior relevant experience

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
