The Aviation Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations, ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of all aircraft under their supervision. This role involves managing a team of technicians, coordinating maintenance schedules, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and company standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in aviation maintenance, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining operational excellence.Â
Responsibilities:Â
- Reports to the Accountable Manager
- Identify hazards and safety risk assessments including change of management
- Ensure the effectiveness of safety risk controls
- Manage, monitor, and coordinate all aircraft maintenance activities as directed
- Ensure all work performed is in accordance with manufacturer's maintenance manuals, company policies, and company procedures
- Ensure that all maintenance personnel under his/her direction are properly trained and qualified to perform the assigned tasks
- Always maintain a work/shift schedule to ensure proper coverage
- Ensure all maintenance documents are correctly entered into the maintenance tracking software computer system and then reviewed and submitted to Maintenance Records in a timely manner
- Ensure all technical data is maintained in current revision status
- Ensure cleanliness of all interiors and exteriors of aircraft
- Ensure all aircraft tooling is maintained and calibrated before use
- Ensure lost and/or found tools are addressed in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Ensure all department vehicles are maintained as required
- Ensure all maintenance facilities are properly maintained
- Ensure aircraft are returned to service in a timely manner
- Participate in maintenance planning
- Evaluate aircraft equipment, tooling, and support equipment for new training topics
- Performs other duties as required or directed by management
- Responsible for the maintenance performed on shift
- Review paperwork of work performed
- Meets return to service requirements FAR 145.157
- Manages the workflow on the aircraft according to operational needs
- Ensure aircraft parts are ordered
- Ensure adequate pass-downs are distributed to appropriate personnel
- Verifies that tags are placed on parts removed from aircraft
- Coordinate inbound and outbound maintenance with maintenance planning
- Ensures all maintenance personnel follow all safety precautions recommended by the aircraft manufacturer
- Ensures all maintenance personnel use the appropriate personal protection equipment
- Makes financial and personnel recommendations for the Repair Station
- Performs any duties assigned by the Accountable ManagerÂ
Supervision and Leadership:Â
- Manage and lead a team of aviation maintenance technicians, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
- Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide guidance to technicians to ensure high-quality maintenance and timely completion of work.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, priorities, and expectations.Â
Maintenance Operations:Â
- Oversee the inspection, repair, and maintenance of aircraft to ensure airworthiness and operational readiness.
- Develop and maintain maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure timely completion of inspections and repairs.
- Coordinate and prioritize unscheduled maintenance and troubleshooting to meet operational needs.
- Ensure proper documentation of all maintenance activities in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies.Â
Compliance and Safety:Â
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, OEM recommendations, and company policies.
- Conduct routine audits of maintenance activities and records to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure adherence to workplace safety protocols and procedures.
- Address and resolve any safety or compliance concerns promptly.Â
Training and Development:Â
- Provide training and mentorship to maintenance personnel to enhance skills, improve efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor certifications and qualifications of team members and coordinate necessary training to maintain compliance.Â
Coordination and Communication:Â
- Act as a point of contact for technical inquiries and communicate effectively with pilots, management, and regulatory authorities.
- Respond to maintenance-related issues during flight operations, including after-hours support when needed.Â
