Job Title: Flight Readiness Technician
Job Type: Full-time; Consultant (6 Months)
Location: San Antonio, TX 78226
Schedule: Monday to Friday; Variable shifts (1st and 2nd shifts based on business needs)
Pay Rate: $45.00 per hour
Seeking Experienced Flightline Aircraft Mechanics (FRT – Level C).
Position Responsibilities:
Perform final component installations and systems operational functional testing. Troubleshoot pre-flight and post-flight functions for aircraft delivery. Inspect and document medium-complexity non-conformance items. Verify flight component installations and operational functionality of aircraft systems. Troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and avionics systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults, documenting faulty components. Conduct pre-flight and post-flight checks, along with maintenance and modifications before delivery. Document and resolve problems identified during operation and testing of deliverable products. Verify the accuracy of completed work. Assist in pre-delivery checks and maintenance of systems and subsystems. Plan and schedule activities with guidance from a lead.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
Must be available to work variable shifts, including days, nights, and weekends. 3+ years’ experience in the aerospace industry. 3+ years’ experience working with Velocity and other 787 production applications. Experience working in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
FAA Airframe & Power Plant license. 3+ years of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) risk experience. 3+ years of 787 program experience. 2+ years of formal or informal team leadership experience. Proficiency in REDARS, PSDS, and BAC specifications. Expertise in NCR (Non-Conformance Record) and EPD (Emergent Process Document) generation. Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 3+ years of flight line operations experience.
Physical and Work Requirements:
Ascend and descend vertical ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift approximately 35 lbs. Exposure to noise and elevated platforms. Use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hands, and arms as required. Pass visual acuity and color perception tests. Interpret detailed written and verbal work instructions and processes. Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous materials. Obtain and maintain required training certifications. Physical tasks may include occasional (1-3 hours) finger manipulation, 2-person lift for weights over 50 lbs, frequent overhead reaching (3-6 hours), walking on flat surfaces, and standing on flat or uneven surfaces. Frequent balancing on ladders or steps, occasional climbing on ladders (3-12 ft) or stands, head/neck rotation, sitting, crawling, squatting, bending/stretching, contact with metals, and frequent exposure to noise.
Additional Information:
This is a non-managerial and non-leadership role. Successful completion of on-the-job training (OJT) or formal classroom training is required as a contingency for the assignment.
