Aircraft Structural Mechanic
Job Description:
  • Examine aircraft structures to identify damage and determine suitable repair or replacement actions using approved technical references. 
  • Install and remove precision fasteners used in major structural assemblies. 
  • Provide guidance on structural modifications, corrosion control, and repair techniques while ensuring the original strength and design intent are maintained. 
  • Conduct control-surface rigging and weight-and-balance tasks after structural work is completed. 
  • Verify that completed structural work meets required standards and technical specifications. 
  • Create or use specialized fixtures, molds, and templates to support fabrication of replacement components. 
  • Carry out metalworking operations such as shaping, bending, fitting, and fastening structural materials. 
  • Apply proper layout, measurement, corrosion treatment, material cleaning, and protective-coating techniques. 
  • Document all maintenance activity within digital maintenance systems following quality and regulatory requirements. 
  • Correctly handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials. 
  • Operate aircraft support equipment and maintain proficiency using maintenance-tracking software. 
  • Participate in FOD (Foreign Object Debris) prevention activities and maintain strict control of issued tools. 
  • Maintain accurate equipment and maintenance records. 
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned to support operational needs. 

 

 

Job Requirements:

Preferred Knowledge & Skills 

  • Familiarity with major structural rebuilding, depot-level repair, or fabrication processes. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical directives, and maintenance manuals. 
  • Working knowledge of aircraft materials such as metals, composites, bonded structures, and associated chemical treatments. 
  • Ability to use respiratory protection or similar equipment when required. 
  • Background in military or government aviation environments is advantageous. 
  • FAA Airframe or Powerplant credentials are beneficial. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of two years of hands-on experience in structural maintenance for commercial, government, or military aircraft (fixed- or rotary-wing).
