Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility A320 is looking for individuals to join our Manufacturing Department based in Mobile, AL in our Onboarding Program as Structures Assemblers/Electrical Installers. 

The Aircraft Structure Assembler and Electrical Installers are a critical part of the aircraft assembly process.   To be successful within this role, the Structure Assembler must possess a high level of integrity and  the ability  to communicate clearly. The employee  must be able to work alone and as part of a team in a high pressure environment to enable the delivery of a High Quality Aircraft and On Time Delivery to internal customers.

Your working environment:

Nearby on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus’ strategy to improve its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your primary responsibilities as an Aircraft Structures Assembler: 
  • Perform repair work on the aircraft 

  • Positioning and assembly of aircraft components 

  • Rework of any external skin damage of the aircraft 

  • Work in compliance with production orders, design documents, concessions and inspections procedures 

  • Prepare and solve queries, ensure follow-up and give feedback 

  • Examine and sort work orders and drawings 

  • Prepare job station for daily activity 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your primary responsibilities as an Aircraft Electrical Installer: 

  • Installs electrical components at the station as per order 

  • Prepares electrical components at the station or workplace 

  • Mark, prepare, lay, connecting, assemble, bundle, paint, and solder parts, assemblies and  sub-assemblies 

  • Adapts, torques and secures electrical components including: equipment panels, printed circuit boards, sections and the documentation of works and queries 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Your boarding pass:
  • High School Diploma OR GED 

  • The ability to successfully complete training, provided by Airbus, after recruitment, including: Health & Safety, General aircraft familiarization, Introduction to Aircraft Assembly, and Quality training.

  • REQUIRED: 5 years of work experience. 

  • PREFERRED: Hands-on experience with tools and fasteners or assembly experience. 

  • Effective verbal & written communication skills. 

  • Able to enter, generate and retrieve information using a computer. 

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify markings and digital outputs on calibrated tools. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions. 

  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals. 

  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification. 

  • Equipment Operation: able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms. 

  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects 

  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs. 

  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor. 

  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings. 

  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves. 

  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information. 

  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice. Able to work outside hangers in changing locations. 

  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight lines and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions.
