Material Control Specalist I in GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

Comfortable in production work environment, industrial supplies, and hand tools. Must have experience with Microsoft Office.


Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required. Related expediting and/or material handling experience preferred.. Valid Drivers License required.

Position Purpose:

Under moderate supervision, responsible for a variety of activities within the material control function in support of manufacturing. Maintain accuracy of materials and data entry.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  1. Interpret route cards and/or material request forms to ensure accurate movement of materials.
  2. Ensure request is handles for replacement material such as scrap, DMT or miscellaneous issues.
  3. Move materials to the correct location through inventory transactions using appropriate systems.
  4. Responsible for tracking of parts requested to support Manufacturing schedules.
  5. Operate material handling equipment and company vehicles as required.
  6. Responsible for assigned equipment.
  7. Work with others as a team on dispatching functions.
  8. Complies with all company safety regulations.

Additional Functions:

  1. Ensure housekeeping in work area and comply with all company safety regulations. .
  2. Learn and apply Lean concepts within functional responsibilities. Supports a continuous improvement culture including lean principles, sustainability initiatives, ergonomic improvements, safety, and cross functional teams. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  1. Able to pass math and reading assessment.
  2. Capable of working in an automated system.
  3. Demonstrate experience in materials coordination.
  4. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
