Job Summary

 

The Machinist role is responsible for carrying out the required standard activities of their assigned tasks, in full compliance to the Work Instruction and/or Standard Operating Procedure, and without compromise to their own, and colleagues, safety.

Where required to achieve "Certified" status, the team member will be taught how to undertake their tasks safely, and to a high quality level, through a rigorous Job Instruction process, and will be expected to attain the relevant certification, as measured by the competence matrix and specified in the sites BMS/QMS.

The team member will be fully supported by their Team Leader (TL), who will enable their training, coaching and quickly respond to them if they find any off-standard / quality issues.
They will be expected to actively identify safety concerns (Hazard identification), make problems immediately known to their TL (Pull the Andon), and raise improvement ideas to solve problems (Kaizen).

They will be part of a team that will collectively work on creating a "Great Place To Work" through a culture of continuous improvement, safe working and open dialogue.
 

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Loading, operate and maintain CNC mills and other machining equipment 
•    interpret and execute machining instructions, drawings, and specification
•    Performing routine maintenance on CNC machine.
•    Reporting production status , issues and concern to appropriate personal.
•    Achieve precise tolerances and surface finishes on a wide variety of parts and components
•    Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure compliance with quality standards
•    Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions and machining issues
•    Maintain a clean and organized work area
•    Adhere to safety protocols and procedures
•    Work independently and as part of a team
•    Assist with process improvement and optimization initiatives

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

-    High School diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
-    8+ years of manufacturing experience and expertise with precision measuring equipment, gages and hand tools to assure quality standards are maintained is preferred.  
-    8+ years of working experience on CNC Mills and Lathes (CNC and Conventional). 


Preferred Qualifications:
-    Knowledge of Continuous Improvement practices
-    Experienced on machining of various metallic and composite materials.  
-    Ability to read blueprints and/or other drawings and meet inspection requirements in accordance with customer specifications. 
-    Uses intermediate shop mathematics including algebra and geometry to determine and check angles, radii, hole locations, accessibility, missing dimensions, interrelated dimensions, etc.  
-    Must be willing to work in a repetitive production environment with concern for meeting cost, quality and schedule requirements. The ability to work as a team player as well as independently is required.

•    Lift up to 50 pounds
•    Good vision with correction
•    Withstand loud noise of a machine shop environment
•    Wears appropriate PPE as required

Compensation Data

The compensation range is between $31.00 - $35.00.
