Position Overview
The Interior Aircraft Technician – Finisher is responsible for performing high-quality finishing, installation, repair, and refurbishment of aircraft interior components. This includes cabin panels, sidewalls, headliners, lavatories, galleys, cabinetry finish work, and soft goods. The Finisher ensures all interior surfaces meet FlyExclusive’s standards for fit, finish, safety, and compliance.
This role requires strong craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a variety of materials including veneers, laminates, composites, plastics, and upholstery coverings.
Key Responsibilities
Interior Finishing & Installation
Perform final finishing on interior components, including sanding, varnishing, polishing, and detailing.
Install cabin panels, bulkheads, doors, overhead bins, galley components, lavatory assemblies, and trim pieces.
Fit and align interior components to achieve tight tolerances and a high-end appearance.
Apply decorative laminates, veneers, and surface coverings to interior panels and cabinetry.
Repair & Refurbishment
Perform repair or refurbishment of damaged interior components including panels, trim, and finish materials.
Restore or replace worn laminates, veneers, and surface coatings.
Conduct minor composite or structural repairs within interior components when required.
Assist in removal and reinstallation of interior assemblies during maintenance projects.
Quality & Detail Work
Inspect completed work to ensure alignment, finish quality, and compliance with design specifications.
Perform final detailing, cleaning, polishing, and finishing to deliver a professional cabin appearance.
Support quality inspections and resolve discrepancies as directed.
Technical Skills & Tools
Read and interpret engineering documents, drawings, and installation guides.
Operate tools such as sanders, polishers, heat guns, routers, cutting tools, and adhesive applicators.
Mix and apply adhesives, sealants, and finishes per manufacturer specifications.
Documentation & Communication
Complete work orders, material usage logs, and repair documentation accurately.
Communicate progress, material needs, and issues to Leads and Supervisors.
Support coordination with upholstery, cabinetry, and paint teams to ensure project flow.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all FAA, OEM, and company procedures for interior maintenance and refurbishment.
Adhere to OSHA safety standards, PPE usage, and proper handling of chemicals and adhesives.
Maintain a clean, organized, FOD-free work area.
Qualifications
3–5+ years of experience in aircraft interiors, cabinetry finishing, automotive interiors, or similar craft.
Strong craftsmanship in finishing, sanding, laminating, and precision installation.
Experience with veneers, laminates, and interior composite materials highly preferred.
Ability to read drawings, follow work instructions, and maintain high-quality standards.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined areas inside the aircraft cabin.
Comfortable with bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
Must be able to work with chemicals, adhesives, and finishing materials safely.
Work Environment
Fast-paced MRO and refurbishment environment.
Overtime, weekend work, or shift adjustments may be required based on project timelines.
