Test Instrumentation Designer (Full Time)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include specification and drawing, installation, operation, and maintenance of engineering test equipment for the development of new and derivative designs of Part 23 aircraft. The ideal candidate is a senior instrumentation technician with broad testing and manufacturing experience, who can plan wiring interfaces prior to install and then serve as a knowledgeable guide for other technicians during the installation work. The role will be based primarily at our Vero Beach facility for all design and testing.![]()
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Primary Job Functions:
Select appropriate sensors to meet the requirements of engineering test plans.
Draw wiring diagrams to interface sensors with data acquisition systems.
Update drawings to remain consistent with aircraft configuration over the course of test programs.
Install and wire engineering test equipment including load cells, string potentiometers, pressure transducers, thermocouples, strain gauges, cameras, and any other specialized equipment unique to engineering test on aircraft.
Perform work in compliance with work orders, engineering drawings, wiring schematics, company specifications and procedures, and vendor installation manuals.
Maintain aircraft records pertaining to work performed in compliance with company procedures.
Configure, calibrate, and operate data acquisition systems.
File and ensure the safe preservation of data following testing.
Maintain and troubleshoot engineering test equipment both on aircraft and in a laboratory environment.
Fabricate fixtures and rigging for ground testing, including use of wood, aluminum and steel extrusions, structural wire rope, and hardware.
Maintain an orderly, FOD compliant work area in accordance with company policy.
Work under limited supervision; work should only be required to be reviewed for accuracy and consistency with design data.
Work directly with the respective engineers to understand the test article function.
Perform other related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Employee will be required to guide and assist other technicians on technical matters during installations. ![]()
QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires a High School education or equivalent; a minimum of five years in aircraft testing or equivalent education and experience is desired.
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Excel.
Experience with 2D drafting and wiring diagrams in AutoCAD software.
Experience installing strain gauges.
Experience with a wide range of aircraft connector types and wiring.
Experience soldering wiring to connector pots and circuit board pads.
Experience fabricating and installing thermocouples.
Experience with aircraft and automotive plumbing fittings including AN and NPT types.
Experience in general aviation certification programs; A&P License is desirable.
Strong hands-on mechanical background, particularly with delicate types of work requiring attention to detail.

Considerable self-management skills are required to successfully perform the planning, directing, and reporting responsibilities of this position. Must be able to work multiple concurrent assignments while maintaining high quality of deliverables.
