The McKinney Manufacturing Engineering department that supports the Surveillance Mission Area division of Raytheon is seeking an Engineering Manager for Test Equipment Support.  We seek somebody who is self-motivated and will work with a cross functional team including manufacturing engineering, design engineering, factory management, program management, and operations assembly and test in addition to managing the test equipment team. This position is in our McKinney, TX, factory.

The test equipment supports different Electro-optical Infrared (EOIR) system variants produced in the McKinney, TX Consolidated Manufacturing Center.  This is a first shift role (start times can vary between 6am to 9am depending on business conditions) and standard workdays will be Monday through Friday with option for some flexible schedules such as 9/80. There will also be occasional weekend work. This is an on-site role in McKinney, Texas.

What you will do:

  • Supervise a multi-disciplined engineering team (including: approving time, hiring team members, reviewing employees, addressing performance issues, etc.)
  • Provide senior engineering leadership and technical knowledge for investigations such as root cause corrective action investigations
  • Coordinate between program management/engineering and the factory engineering team to address manufacturing concerns
  • Develop and grow careers of the engineers in the section
  • Provide estimates for proposals of future factory efforts
  • Assist team to provide return on investment values for potential improvement projects
  • Drive technical team to maintain and improve factory metrics to reduce cost and improve factory capabilities
  • Work with factory and engineering leadership to mitigate risk to goals such as on-time deliveries
  • Identify and lead team to investigate failure trends for root cause and implementation of corrective actions

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant manufacturing/engineering experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum of 5 years’ manufacturing/engineering experience
  • One year experience supporting or developing an Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) product
  • Three years’ experience in factory support (e.g. troubleshooting and producibility improvements)
  • Experience leading a team of direct reports
  • Experience reading drawings, datasheets, and/or system specifications
  • Experience in leading root cause corrective action investigations
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Managerial experience including: creating job requirements, interviewing candidates, conflict resolution, and addressing performance issues
  • Experience mentoring or otherwise growing the careers of engineers
  • Experience in creating training material or teaching/training
  • Familiarity or experience in providing basis of estimates (BOEs), providing engineering estimates, determining return on investment (ROI), etc.
  • Basic electrical engineering knowledge such as understanding of Op-Amps, Multiplexers, ADC/DAC, etc.
  • Basic mechanical engineering knowledge such as mechanical mechanisms (i.e. gears, actuators, etc.)
  • Basic systems engineering knowledge such as flow down of system requirements to test
  • Hands on experience building or reworking/repairing using mechanical assembly hand tools (e.g. socket set, ball drivers, torque wrench).
  • Experience with transition to production activities
  • Experience in designing experiments for troubleshooting and investigations.
  • Experience in data analysis for identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Active Secret Clearance

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
