The Position

Panasonic Avionics takes entertainment and connectivity to new heights. We’re the world’s leading supplier of (IFEC) inflight entertainment and communications systems that allow passengers access to live TV, movies, music, interactive games, maps, and much more! We’re also expanding our award-winning connectivity network into the LEO space.

We are looking for a motivated, driven, and collaborative Software Engineer with experience in embedded software development to join a talented team that conducts research, design and development of software running on Linux OS to power our latest products.


Responsibilities

What Were looking for:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement, integrate, and verify software applications and tools using CC++ under Linux.
  • Enhance, optimize, and improve efficiency and robustness of the current software.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, architecture, and design processes.
  • Collaborate with multiple development teams.
  • Review, evaluate and analyze test plans and procedures.
  • Support system test programs, analyze results and improve overall system quality.
  • Lead and provide technical guidance to engineers, designers, and support personnel.
  • Oversee and manage deployed system performance and in-service performance with intent of recommending and guiding solutions to satisfy our customers.
  • Participate in development and leadership of appropriate architecture solutions and enhancements for planned system deployments and improvements.
  • Participate in the full SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) system from requirements gathering to Production deployment to supporting production.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong proven experience with C/C++, Python, and Bash.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in real time multi-threaded software.
  • Proven experience in development under Linux.
  • Proven experience in socket programming, IPC and PUB/SUB architecture.
  • Strong proven knowledge and experience with wireless networks, 802.11 standards including 802.11ac and 802.11ax (WiFi 6/6E)
  • Experience and Hands on Skills with Passpoint, 1x (EAP-SIM, EAP-AKA, EAP-TLS, and EAP-TTLS), HotSpot 2.0 and RADIUS server configuration
  • Experience and Hands on Skills with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience and Hands on Skills with Database such as MySQL/MariaDB, No SQL or similar.
  • Experience and Hands on Skills with Gitlab and CI / CD Pipelines or similar.
  • Deep understanding of the networking protocols TCP/UDP/IP/HTTP/SNMP/DHCP/DNS and familiarity with VLANs and basic switching and routing concepts.
  • Solid knowledge of programming fundamentals-algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in an agile team practicing SCRUM software development principles.
  • Demonstrated engineering communication expertise including clear and concise written and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a lead, break down software tasks and mentor less experienced team members.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL DESIRABLES

  • Knowledge of C++14/17 and later.
  • Strong knowledge of protocols like REST, AJAX, JSON, protobuf and WebSockets.
  • Familiarity with satellite networks, antenna systems and related communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with software development aviation processes (AS9100/DO-178C).
  • Agile / Scrum certification or proven experience practicing Agile software development principles is desired.

The salary of $112,000 - 188,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package.
