What are your contributions to the team?
• Support Production, Design Engineering, Procurement & Quality in coordinating resolutions to issues and providing Corrective Action involving Engineering.
• Conduct the Green Aircraft Weight and Balance procedures, large component and parts weighing.
• Produce Weight and Balance Reports and Loadsheets for Flight Test, C of A and delivery
• Provide the Final Assembly Line and In-Service Support with Mass Properties Impact for Program Change Request (PCR), Design Change Proposal (DCP), Request for Change (RFC), Repair Engineering Order (REO), Service Bulletin (SB), Service Request for Product Support Action (SRPSA), Restriction & Special Instruction (RSI), Functional Test Engineering Requirement (FTER), and Modsums.
• Maintain Aircraft Weight and CG, DCP/PCR and Modsum databases.
• Maintain and/or Evaluate partner/supplier weight reports to monitor the weight and center of gravity of the aircraft.
• Review and approve structural and systems layouts, System Definition Drawings (SDD), Installations, Assembly, Detail and Procurement Control Drawings (PCD)
• Calculate Weight and CG using engineering documents (Structural, Installation and Detail Drawings, Harness Reports, Wiring and Stick Diagrams) and 3D modeled parts.
• Generate inertia and distribution of mass properties data for the aircraft and components
• Analyze aircraft characteristics such as aircraft buoyancy and fuel migration.
• Generate flight management system (FMS) data, create test cases, and support to system integration test station (SITS) & ground testing
• Provide Mass properties support to all specialists within Engineering, including Liaison, Design, Stress, Aerodynamics, Avionics, Performance, Tech Publications and others.
• Provide support to the Mass Properties Council and the Knowledge Domain initiatives.
• Provide status, updates & keep current on information regarding product evolution.
• Participating, as required, in design, technical and certification activities and reviews. Liaise with the specialists in design, stress, all technical and airworthiness departments to control the weight and c of g of all the aircraft configurations. Work closely with and support all Work Package Managers and IPDTs.
How to thrive in this role?
• You hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering or related field.
• You have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in Mass Properties.
• You have knowledge of Aircraft Configuration, Structures and Systems integration technical requirements.
• You are proficient in Mass Properties Analysis of Structure, Systems and Wiring
• Good understanding and experience in supporting to Design and Stress Engineering, Production, Pre-Flight and In-Service
• You are familiar with Federal Aviation Regulation, Advisory Circulars, Bombardier Manuals and Recommended Practices
• You have good knowledge of Catia V5 and MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
• You are an energetic person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high sense of commitment, and a willingness to accept responsibilities while acting independently in a high-pressure partner/supplier team environment. Membership of the SAWE International Society or SAWE Canada Chapter is an advantage.
• Highly organized, results-oriented, work independently and able to prioritize assignments
