OnsiteThis position is for a Principal Structural Engineering professional with deep knowledge and highly developed technical expertise. Candidate should possess a deep understanding of aerospace regulatory and certification requirements and demonstrate the ability to meet these requirements through structural analysis and associated documentation.
What YOU Will do:
- Work within a team of structural analysis (Stress) engineers in support of new product development and certification
- Perform complex structural analysis utilizing classical analysis and finite element analysis methods to demonstrate structural integrity of cargo handling system products
- Support the generation of component applied loads and aircraft interface loads
- Review and approve structural analysis documentation in support of product certification
- Mentor and develop junior stress engineers
- Coordinate project schedule and status with program management and other cross-functional engineering groups in support of deliverable milestones
- Coordinate structural testing with the necessary cross-functional engineering teams (i.e. design engineering, test & validation engineering, etc) to support product certification
- Support establishing structural specifications, conducting performance tests, and planning or conducting experimental, environmental, operational, or stress tests on models or prototypes of systems or equipment to ensure quality and performance standards are met
- Support the development of structural analysis methods to meet aerospace regulatory requirements
- Manage daily work assignment and oversight of junior stress engineers
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace engineering from an accredited institution and 8 years of relevant experience OR Advance degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace engineering and 5 years of relevant experience OR In absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Computer Aided Design (CAD) program experience
- Finite Element Analysis experience (ANSYS preferred)
- Experience with major airframe and/or aircraft on-board cargo systems
- In-depth understanding of regulatory documents and processes, and structural certification requirements for commercial aerospace products.
- Strong understanding of core engineering concepts such as material properties, free body diagrams, and statics
- Understanding of structural loading and analysis
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- In-depth knowledge of aerospace regulatory documents and processes
- Experience with classical analysis methods
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize both daily issues and longer-term projects
- Experienced with Microsoft Office tools.
- Adaptability to adjust to business changes and priority shifts
- Strong teamwork skills to facilitate inclusion and leverage diversity for success

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
