Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Division we are keen to meet candidates who also have stress analysis experience as part of their engineering background who can support our continued success and ambitious growth plans. This role will be based at our Staverton site with an option for occasional hybrid working .

The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer you will be providing technical support to the Ontic UK Operations teams, external suppliers and customers. You will provide mechanical sustainment engineering support for products throughout the lifecycle from NPI to retirement and provide technical support to all internal and external customers and stakeholders.
This will involve reviewing technical specifications and ensure product conformance to design, offering opportunity to perform root cause investigations and deliver corrective actions, producing technical documents and reports to a high standard.
In addition to your sustainment engineering duties, you will be called upon to conduct stress analysis in support of modifications and non-conformances on hydraulic and pneumatic equipment including valves, manifolds and actuators when required to do so. This is a varied role that offers a good mix of Mechanical and Stress Engineering.

Degree educated or equivalent HND/HNC in a Mechanical discipline or have significant industry exposure with good educational standards and be able to demonstrate experience in a technical support/Mechanical Engineering role in a manufacturing environment, experience within Aerospace or a highly regulated sector would be advantageous.
Experience of design development, evaluation or NPI is also an advantage. Equally, you should be able to demonstrate your stress analysis skillset by advising on the acceptability of component non-conformance with respect to static strength and fatigue life. You will also assess and recommend the acceptability of alternative materials for obsolete specifications, ensuring that the in-service strength and fatigue life is not compromised. Analysis of component static strength under limit and ultimate loads using classical hand calculations and FEA.
The successful candidate should also possess well developed communication skills with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and be competent with MS Office and our ERP systems. Experience of SolidWorks CAD, Windchill and ANSYS Workbench would be beneficial.
