An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Principal HSEEngineer for Safety within the Health Safety & Environmental organizationof Intelligrated (IGS) and Smart Energy Thermal Solutions (SETS) business. Reporting to the Sr Director of HSE for IGS and SETS business, this positionwill provide technical leadership, direct functional oversight and support forcompliance programs and management systems for two of Industrial Automations (IA)Businesses.   Leadership accountability will be focused on drivingsafety compliance improvements that ensure full compliance with allgovernmental and Honeywell requirements. The Principal HSE Engineer is also akey person in leading the implementation & full integration of the HSEmanagement systems.  

Position Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business and Industrial Automation HSE resources to providetechnical expertise on issues involving compliance with and interpretation offederal, state and local requirements, rules and regulations.
  • Partnerwith site HSE resources and site leadership to meet IA projects anddeadlines. 
  • Coach and mentor site Safety resources within the IGS and SETS Portfolio.
  • Accountable for conducting periodic compliance reviews and audits ofrespective business sites to assure compliance with safety managementrequirements.  Participates in Corporate HSEPS audit process. 
  • Accountable for reviewing and communicating new legal and other requirementsto the appropriate members of business and site leadership resources.
  • Co-accountable with Business and Site HSE leaders for assuring the factoriesfully implement required elements of the Honeywell HSE Management System, and Accelerator-relatedactivities.
  • Partner with the business leadership and HSE professionals to drive continualimprovement of safety functional programs, procedures and performance.
  • Lead or participate in significant safety related incident investigations androot cause analyses.
  • Verify Assessments in MST and compliance assurance letter process in supportof factory leadership in the business.
  • Assist in resolving potential safety non-compliance and enforcement actions,claims, disputes and litigation regarding HSE matters.

You Must Have:

  • Minimum of 10 years safety management in support of chemical manufacturing isrequired.

We Value: 

  • A Bachelors of Science in engineering, chemistry, environmental, safety science or a related science or technical field is required. 
  • Advanced degree in engineering or HSE is preferred; professional certificationsa plus.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience applying occupational safety principles in Manufacturing, R&D,and Field Service applications.
  • Knowledge of and direct experience in HSE auditing, management systems, andOSHAs Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) is also a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels of theorganization, verbally and in writing. Able to interact with factory flooremployees as well as business and operations leaders to establish credibilityand influence direction.
  • Judgment and a strong ethical framework, allowing the individual to makecorrect decisions instinctively, balanced with an appreciation for thepressures which businesspeople confront.
  • Demonstrated program, project and people leadership. Able to set strategicdirection and manage resources required for tactical implementation.Creativity, energy, dependability and organizational skills that will enablemanagement of multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to influence and be anagent for change. Able to bring out the best in others.
  • Comfort with a high degree of responsibility coupled with initiative, capacityto work independently and dedication to producing high quality work product.
