Job Summary
The candidate hired for this position will work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments. This engineer will be working in a small, synergistic project team giving each team member the opportunity to make significant contributions to the team’s efforts and to gain a great sense of achievement. The primary focus of this position is in the area of components engineering; whereby the candidate will be responsible for the selection of alternate or substitute components for those items deemed obsolete or not quite acceptable for the current application.This position will be responsible for the continued management of electronic, electrical and mechanical component changes requested by suppliers and internal development engineers. The candidate will interface with various departments including manufacturing and must have electronics component knowledge up to expert level. Candidate will be responsible for leading various objectives with global impact including ability to define alternative components and be capable of technical support for worldwide component issues.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for component selection, lifecycle, material, problem resolution
- Manage the component database content and integrity
- Lead component problem resolutions
- Perform Component Failure and Root Cause Analysis
- Perform Reliability Analysis
- Provide assistance with material verification resolution, supplier issues etc.
- Reviewing and Assessing GIDEP Alerts and Product Change Notices (PCNs) for potential impacts
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of component engineering experience
- Ability to work with engineering teams across product lines
- Ability to multitask and be able to address multiple issues in parallel
- Experience in support of manufacturing including but not limited to purchasing, quality control, manufacturing engineering and test.
- Familiarity with military component specifications and Military part numbers as well as COTS parts
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite of tools
- Knowledge of a wide breadth of components in various technology areas such as digital, analog, power, connectors, adhesives, heat shrink tubing, cables & harnessing.
