About the role
Qatar Airways are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to join our Flight Operations – Navigation Services team as a Senior Flight Dispatcher to be based in Doha, Qatar.
As a Senior Flight Dispatcher, you will be responsible for organizing and controlling the shift through effective allocation, coordination, and the provision of technical support to Flight Dispatchers. You will support the Duty Manager in maintaining operational control in accordance with safety, efficiency, and economic objectives. You will also be responsible for conducting Flight Watch during the shift for all Qatar Airways flights, from STD minus two hours (STD‑2) until arrival at their intended destination. In addition, you will oversee smooth crew briefings when assigned, attending to pilot queries related to flight plan availability and flight planning strategies.
Specific responsibilities for the role include:
Develop, review, authorize, issue, and revise Operational Flight Plans for all scheduled and non‑scheduled flights, including training and test operations, in accordance with safety and regulatory requirements, while supporting efficient and reliable operations.
Analyze operational conditions and identifying any opportunities that may constrain, impede or benefit operational capabilities inclusive of, but not limited to, weather, facilities, Air Traffic Control, and aircraft performance.
Perform Operational Flight Watch to determine if changes to operational and meteorological conditions may affect the safety of flights within a prescribed area or on assigned routes and to communicate those changes to the Pilot-in-Command.
Provide the Pilot‑in‑Command with a thorough and professional flight crew briefing, covering all significant information that may impact the operation of the flight, when requested or deemed necessary.
Coordinate with Maintenance Control and the Pilot-in-Command regarding aircraft deviations from standards, which may limit or impact flight operational capabilities, and when required, communicate any operational limitations to the Maintenance Operations Control Centre and other stakeholders.
Monitor position, time, flight level, fuel, and path deviations via the TOPS Flight Watch system, and proactively assess fuel status to support in‑flight fuel management and advise the flight crew as required.
