We are seeking an experienced Senior Avionics Technician located in Brunswick, GA to provide technical leadership, troubleshooting expertise, and hands-on support in the testing, repair, and installation of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring aircraft are delivered defect-free while meeting strict safety, quality, and schedule requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, mentor junior technicians, and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of avionics systems utilizing schematics, CAD drawings, and technical manuals.
- Perform root cause analysis on system failures to identify underlying issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, ohmmeters, ammeters, and coordinate measuring machines to ensure component accuracy.
- Fabricate, modify, and assemble avionics components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and sheet metal techniques in accordance with engineering specifications.
- Interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems accurately.
- Maintain compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), AS9100 quality standards, and company policies related to aircraft maintenance.
- Document all maintenance activities thoroughly within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for traceability.
- Assist in the calibration and testing of avionics equipment using specialized test benches and calibration tools.
- Support aircraft assembly and disassembly processes during maintenance cycles or upgrades.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to improve processes related to avionics installation and repair.
Experience
- Proven experience working with aircraft or military vehicle maintenance, including extensive electrical and mechanical repair skills.
- Strong background in avionics systems integration, schematics interpretation, and troubleshooting complex electronic assemblies.
- Hands-on experience with precision measurement instruments like calipers, micrometers, ohmmeters, ammeters, and coordinate measuring machines.
- Understanding of aviation industry standards such as AS9100 quality management system requirements.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while handling aircraft components or equipment.
- Knowledge of federal aviation regulations governing aircraft maintenance practices.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with electrical experience to support comprehensive aircraft maintenance tasks.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
