What You Will Do:

Sr. Principal System Administrator, in Unclassified Program Services, collaborate with a diverse team to support fast-paced, critical programs with unclassified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you are able to develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various unclassified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems.

  • Leading a team of System Administrators to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of IT systems and applications within their assigned section.
  • Providing leadership to support a varied range of administrative tasking, to include corrective/preventive maintenance, recurring operations functions, account management, and system optimization.
  • Supervising administrators whose duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
  • Developing and monitoring policies, standards, processes, and goals for direct reports
  • Coordinating system administrative support for training development/evaluations and operations and sustainment plans
  • Participating in Change Request reviews, to include participating in Change Management boards at multiple program levels.
  • Coordinating technical and process document reviews and resolving system administration, engineering, and integration issues
  • Participating and leading technical meetings with team members and other program personnel, and representing the organization in functional area matters
  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment. 
  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.
  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.
  • Travel required to other US Domestic locations as business needs dictate. Up to at 10 per year.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications You Must Have:  

  • Typically, bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of direct system experience or a master’s degree and 5+ years of direct experience.
  • Must be able to obtain Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required before start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Must have Windows and Linux experience.
  • 8+ years of experience with some but not limited to, the following technologies:  Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, Veeam, AWS, MySQL, Remote Desktop Gateway, and Netwrix, prior systems administration and networking administration experience, Windows or Linux administration, Windows administration, or Mac OS experience, backup, and recovery enterprise suites.
  • Must have experience in mentoring others or lead experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:  

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Organizational skills to include attention to detail, time management and ability to multitask.
  • Experience with handling and working with unclassified information.
  • Experience with requirements gathering, planning, and managing deployment, installation, maintenance and upgrade efforts, over multiple geographic sites.
  • Experience managing IT services and support in a 24/7 real time operational environment.
  • Industry certifications including but not limited to: Security +, CISSP, ITIL, ISC2, PMP etc.
  • 2 years demonstrated experience leading a team.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, managing budgets, and head count.
  • Knowledge of proposal development tasks
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development. 
  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, SCCM, and/or Exchange
  • Scripting Experience

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
