Job SummaryThe Business Analyst is responsible for advancing the Enterprise Architecture (EA) function by driving business process analysis, concentrating on the coordination, documentation, governance of the EA initiatives and automation of the EA processes. In this role, you will be contributing to the development and implementation of NAV CANADA’s EA operating model, streamline documentation management, develop automated workflows, and support governance framework to ensure efficiency and compliance. You will be participating in market scans to provide insights that inform strategic decisions, identify opportunities for innovation, and promote a culture of adaptability, resilience, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team and across the organization.

You will be responsible for maintaining the EA documentation repository, automating governance processes through workflows, ensuring effective tracking and reporting. Collaborating closely with the EA team and stakeholders, you will guide implementation of automation solutions, manage records, and facilitate the smooth execution of EA governance initiatives aligned with the organizations strategic objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development and evolution of EA processes, templates, knowledgebases, standards, documentation, infrastructure, and other enabling resources.

  • Automate workflows and governance process to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Ensure projects and technology investments adhere to EA governance frameworks, standards, and policies.

  • Monitor compliance with established EA principles and contribute to governance reporting.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of EA frameworks, governance processes, and project documentation.

  • Prepare reports and dashboards to track the status of EA initiatives and ensure timely communication with stakeholders.

  • Serve as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and the EA function to facilitate clear communication and alignment.

  • Support change management efforts by developing strategies to drive adoption of new systems, processes, and governance frameworks.

  • Assist in delivering training and communications to promote awareness and compliance with EA standards.

  • Contributes to EA planning and prioritization, elaborating EA proposals, setting objectives, scope, and timelines for EA initiatives.

Job Requirements

Education:

Graduated from a recognized university or college with a degree/certification in Computer Sciences/Information Technology or relevant technical field or an acceptable combination of education, experience, and training.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Business Analyst in a technical discipline such as solution architecture, systems development, or integration.

  • Experience investigating, evaluating, prototyping, and recommending technical or business solutions.

  • Experience writing and contributing to high-quality technical and business documentation.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and coordinating activities in a collaborative project environment.

Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of business analysis and facilitation practices, tools, and techniques.

  • Knowledge of project management best practices including scope, cost, and risk management.

  • Knowledge of managing information in SharePoint.

  • Knowledge of a wide variety of technologies relevant to NAV CANADA as well as their applications and constraints, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, data processing and analytics, simulation, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure. 

Abilities:

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to investigate and explore new and innovative solutions and provide well-supported recommendations.

  • Ability to adapt and learn new areas in technology and business.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to guide and influence team members and stakeholders.

  • Strong business analysis skills including facilitation and elicitation to develop ideas and elaborate on EA proposals.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and technical writing.

Working conditions:

  • Hybrid (minimum 2 days in office) - This position is based at the Ottawa TSC but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement

  • Travel may be required on occasion.
